The Ethics of Touch
Home Study Course Series

Course Descriptions

The Ethics of Touch Continuing Education Series takes an in-depth look at ethical issues through reading materials and reflective exercises. The courses are designed per the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Standards of Practice requirements using The Ethics of Touch book (purchased separately) as the reading material and range from 2 - 6 Contact Hours [1] per course. The Ethics of Touch on-going series of courses will support your practice for years to come!

When choosing a course, keep in mind your own level of training and understanding of ethical terms. We highly recommend starting with the courses from chapter One. If you choose a course from a different chapter, please note that you must also read chapter One.

Cherie Sohnen-Moe is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider under Catagory A.

Notes:
  1. There is some confusion about the meaning of Continuing Education Units (CEU), Credit Units (CU), and Contact Hours (CH). The following definition of CEU is from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) web site about CEUs:

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Under IACET's care, the IACET CEU has evolved from a quantitative measure to a hallmark of quality training and instruction.

NCMTMB is currently working to provide a common definition of CEUs, CUs, and CHs for national certification.
